‘AYN ACADEMY - FOR SEEKERS OF BENEFICIAL KNOWLEDGE
‘AYN - THE HEART OF TRADITIONAL LEARNING ‘Ayn Academy is dedicated to facilitating beneficial Islamic knowledge through traditional Islamic learning. We are committed to the principles of ‘Ilm - knowledge and ‘Amal – good works; and recognise that only through service does knowledge achieve true value. ‘Ayn Academy is not an institution of scholars, but intends to provide the community with access to qualified teachers. ‘Ayn Academy is based in South Australia and is a not-for-profit and non-sectarian organisation. ‘AYN - A LETTER THAT INSPIRES Unlike letters in many other languages, single letters in the Arabic language carry profound meaning. When a word begins with the letter ‘Ayn, it refers to that which radiates from a pure source. Kitab al-‘Ayn also refers to a book authored by al-Khalil b. Ahmad al-Farahidi, which is considered the first Arabic dictionary. It was a compilation of the comprehensive lexion of ‘Abd Allah b. Abbas, and although contained far less words, consisted of significantly more words than the most comprehensive Arabic dictionaries available today. As such, ‘Ayn Academy takes its name in recognition of the deep meaning behind the letter ‘Ayn, as well as in admiration of the wealth of knowledge held by the scholars of the early generations. ‘AYN - ASPIRATIONS OF EXCELLENCE ‘Ayn Academy’s programs focus on two objectives: 1. To provide opportunities to learn Islamic sciences and fulfill Prophetic traditions, by reviving traditional Islamic learning through the system of Isnaad - unbroken chains of transmission, by which Islamic scholarship is preserved. 2. To provide opportunities to share in the spirit of service, by fulfilling the responsibilities towards our Creator and creation, as well as a platform for beneficial interaction with ideas, people and our surroundings. |
